วันที่ 5 พฤษภาคม 2569 คณะกรรมการร่วมภาคเอกชน 3 สถาบัน (กกร.) ได้หารือร่วมกับหัวหน้าคณะเจรจาการค้าของแคนาดา ผู้แทนสถานทูตแคนาดา และผู้แทนบริษัท เบเคอร์ แมคเค็นซี่ ประเทศไทย ณ บริษัท เบเคอร์ แมคเค็นซี่ ประเทศไทย โดยทั้งสองฝ่ายได้แลกเปลี่ยนมุมมองด้านความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจและการค้า พร้อมให้ความสำคัญกับการยกระดับความสัมพันธ์ให้มีความทันสมัยและสอดคล้องกับบริบทเศรษฐกิจโลกที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไป

การหารือครอบคลุมประเด็นสำคัญ อาทิ การกระจายความเสี่ยงของห่วงโซ่อุปทาน การส่งเสริมการลงทุน การเปิดตลาดบริการ รวมถึงการลดอุปสรรคทางการค้าที่ไม่ใช่ภาษี (NTBs) โดยเฉพาะมาตรการด้านสุขอนามัย (SPS) และทรัพย์สินทางปัญญา (IP) ซึ่งทั้งสองฝ่ายมีท่าทีเปิดกว้าง และมุ่งหาจุดสมดุลระหว่างการคุ้มครองผลประโยชน์สาธารณะกับการอำนวยความสะดวกทางการค้า

ภาคเอกชนไทยได้เสนอให้ใช้กรอบความตกลงที่มีอยู่เป็นฐานในการเร่งรัดการเจรจา รวมทั้งเชิญชวนนักลงทุนแคนาดาเข้ามาลงทุนในประเทศไทยผ่านสิทธิประโยชน์ของ BOI ได้ทันที ขณะที่ฝ่ายแคนาดายืนยันความพร้อมในการเปิดช่องทางหารือเชิงเทคนิคระหว่างภาคเอกชนและผู้เชี่ยวชาญเฉพาะด้าน เพื่อสนับสนุนการขับเคลื่อนความร่วมมือให้เกิดผลเป็นรูปธรรมในระยะต่อไป

JSCCIB Discusses Economic Cooperation with Canada’s Chief Trade Negotiator

On 5 May 2026, the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB) held talks with the Chief Trade Negotiator for the Canada–Thailand Free Trade Agreement, representatives from the Embassy of Canada, and representatives from Baker McKenzie Thailand at Baker McKenzie Thailand. Both sides exchanged views on economic and trade cooperation, with a shared emphasis on the modernisation of bilateral relations in line with evolving global economic dynamics.

The discussion covered key areas, including supply chain diversification, investment promotion, services market access, and the reduction of non-tariff barriers (NTBs), particularly sanitary and 

phytosanitary measures (SPS) and intellectual property (IP). Both sides expressed openness and agreed on the importance of facilitating trade while ensuring public interests are maintained.

The Thai private sector proposed using existing frameworks as a basis to expedite discussions, while also encouraging Canadian investors to make use of Thailand’s BOI incentives for immediate investment. The Canadian side reaffirmed its readiness to facilitate direct, technical-level engagement between Thai businesses and Canadian experts, in order to further advance practical cooperation in the next phase.
